
Dedicated to the memory of Eugène Rambert (1830 - 1886), professor of French literature, poet from the canton of Vaud, amateur naturalist and enthusiastic member of the Swiss Alpine Club, La Rambertia is a private garden maintained by the Rambertia Alpine Garden Society.
1892 Creation of an alpine garden near the lake of Jaman.
1894 Foundation of a society in Montreux which takes over the first garden but moves it to the northern slope of the Rochers-de-Naye and gives it the name of the Favratia, in memory of the poet Louis Favrat (1827 - 1893), French teacher, then curator of the Botanical Museum of Lausanne.
1896 Dissolution of the aforementioned Society, foundation of the Society of La Rambertia, with the purpose of maintaining and developing the botanical garden that was ceded to it.
1896 / 97 Choice of the definitive (and actual) location of the garden. Beginning of the works (surface 6 hectares). Planting of trees and various alpine plants (650 varieties in 1896). First president Henri Correvon, renowned botanist from Geneva.
1904 First Congress of Alpine Gardens in Naye under the presidency of Prince Roland Bonaparte.
